Dr. Jamarri Aikins founded Atlas as a practice devoted to helping people strengthen resilience and realize their potential through psychology and performance. science. His work brings together traditional therapy, clinical care, sports, exercise, and performance psychology, helping individuals address distress while also developing the skills that lead to resilience and fulfillment. Drawing from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and mental skills training, he guides clients toward greater clarity, purpose, and strength.
He specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults facing emotional and behavioral concerns, as well as individuals striving to enhance performance in athletics, academics, or personal growth. His approach is rooted in the belief that suffering often reveals the areas where change is most needed, and that growth comes from purposeful action. He views physical activity as a powerful tool for resilience and self-discovery, reinforcing the connection between mental and physical well-being.
Dr. Aikins earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas Christian University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Louisiana State University. He completed his predoctoral internship at Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska, and his postdoctoral fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is affiliated with the American Psychological Association, the Texas Psychological Association, and the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
A Texas native, Dr. Aikins values balance, perseverance, flexibility, and purpose in both his personal and professional life. Outside of his work, he enjoys fitness, creating music, and spending time with his Jack Russell Terrier, Jameson.
